[She bursts out laughing before managing to contain it to giggles.]

God, no. I doubt my taste is very good but let it be better than that. But 'enemies' is probably accurate.

Does that mean my own sexual charms and allure are lost on you? [Kida pouted, playing with Erika's hair idly] Why enemies?

I didn't realise you were trying to be alluring. [Erika's head tips closer. Hey, she's a stray. Nothing wrong with a little playing with her hair.] I don't consider us such. But it's fair to say she hates me.

[Hard to say how much, if anything, he knows about the games, so it's best to word it in a believable way.] Her family is so shady. All those terrible dark secrets and very illegal activity. As a detective, it was my job to expose all their crimes. Yes, especially the horrible actions of her adoptive mother, Natsuhi. No detail deserved to be left behind in the name of justice.

[She pauses to pillow her head on her arms and shuts her eyes, completely at ease.]

I take back the Battler comparison. You didn't deserve that. It took him hours to realise I'm an unpleasant person. Though, it isn't much a compliment to be more competent than him but I can at least say that much.

[Erika twirls a hand in a vague gesture.]

It started out impersonal but I got annoyed. You won't understand but Lion wasn't involved... except in a very distant way. In fact, I got justice for her as well at the end. But I suppose she holds a grudge. Some people have blind spots for others. Her mother is an especially strong weakness.

Has Mikado caught on to your true nature yet? He's naive about a lot of things, and even if he realizes someone is unpleasant, he can go in with his own strange brand of wide eyed idealism.

[during all of this, Kida hasn't stopped playing with Erika's hair, and his tone is still pleasant and casual, albeit slightly forced]

[Erika is more surprised by the forced tone than anything.]

The latter, of knowing and still viewing me well. I did insist on my horrible personality but he insists back. I'm not going to try harder to push him away. He's...really nice. You don't need to worry about your friend by me at least.

[And admitting that to Kida is embarrassing.]

He's really naive about way too many people. I worry about him being influenced by the wrong type of person as much as I worry about him being hurt by them.

You think I'm infectious? [She giggles to herself but actually considers it.] ...No, I think he won't be influenced by me that much. He looks up to you and Willard too much to allow for that.

[She smiles at him, eyes still shut, and the next words are surprisingly free of any malice.]

I meant that, though. He was very protective of his relationship with you. Your influence is greater.

[Kida closes his eyes. He's not feeling particularly influential as far as Mikado goes these days]

It's just a shame I had to find out about you this way. It would've been a lot more fun to catch you two in the middle of something suggestive, or if Mikado had told me about you himself while I teased him.

[Erika sighs. She doesn't actually feel like digging up anyone's secrets right now. Weird but true. It's nice just relaxing.]

Joker types are annoying. They play off everything to obscure the often obvious truth in their statements. What I said is a strict observation. Your 'truth' is invalid.

[Insecurity is dull. She knows it too well. And since that was rather final, she waves a hand.]

It was waiting for me like this when I finally relented and moved in with a terrible person I call my brother. He's a pretty disturbing individual. I bet you two would get along really well.

You'd be surprised. Sometimes terrible people hate other terrible people. It might be hypocritical but who isn't a hypocrite?

Of course, having said that, I haven't met this person you call a brother.

I don't know. I try not to think about him if I don't have to. [sighs and rolls over to flop on Erika] Do you want me to introduce you to him?

No thank you. If I meet him, then I do. If he's that type, it probably wouldn't be good for me to be around him anyway. [And then pouting.] If you're going to lay on me, keep giving me attention. I'm a very needy stray.

I'm afraid that's my line. [continues flopping]

That isn't very gentleman-like.

[But oh well. Erika sighs.] Are you going to try to stop me from seeing Mikado?

I'm not a gentleman. I'm an annoying brat.

[resting his head on her shoulder] Not yet, I don't think. If I warned him about you too much he'd probably fly straight into your arms. He has a dangerous sense of curiosity.

Someone would have to be especially dense to miss that. Having an inquisitive nature and a natural curiosity is a good thing but... if he could avoid becoming completely consumed by it, that would be nice.
