Peony had quickly set up a corner of Jade's lab for himself, a now very messy corner, littered with books and newspapers and journals and magazines and anything else the former Emperor could find to occupy himself. He had discovered that despite other differences between this world and his own, both still maintained the pirate tradition, and so he was immersed in a new release called Treasure Island.

As he read, his mind kept drifting back to the news of a few days ago. He wasn't really sure what to do with that new information. What would happen if he even remembered the things that might be better forgotten? Things couldn't be swept under the rug though, no matter how much more appealing that prospect might be, so as he finished another chapter, he shut the book with an exaggerated sigh, leaning back as he finally looked up at Jade.
