[Two main reasons Lion enjoys magic practice. One is just because it's fun. Not fun enough that she'd get addicted to it - that is reserved for arguing - but a nice change of pace regardless. The second reason is spending time with Will. But naturally that reason is no surprise. Even if it's also so he can watch over her, she has a feeling he has some fun with it, too. It seems like everyone in their world has some odd predisposition to enjoy it.

That is why Lion decided to surprise Will. She did tell him she wanted to study together today, just not when, which isn't unusual. However, being able to summon him means she can just go to a nice, isolated place outside and call for him. Possibly she is enjoying that ability far too much. Not the point.

The point is that Lion is in a coat, an adjustment for the cooler weather, and summoning Will. Not because she has to. Rather, she wants to surprise him completely with his sword. He can thank Erika and Mikado for that one.]
