1. first day
Catch up with old friends, brave new teachers, fight your way through the sea of students, and hope you're in the right classroom. Oh, you're the new kid. Well, that's okay as long as you've got more than enough summer vacation anecdotes to fill ten pages of Times New Roman size 12, single-spaced.

2. first period
You're gonna be late! Or are you already there? Class hasn't started just yet, so chat it up or copy your classmate's homework before the teacher gets here.

3. lesson proper
You're probably diligently taking notes, looking out the window daydreaming or reciting in class, much to your teacher's delight - or dismay. Try not to be too obvious when counting down the minutes and pass that note as discreetly as possible.

4. faculty
Have a bone to pick with your terror math teacher. A crush on the cute chemistry teacher? There might be something you want to ask your homeroom teacher about. In any case, you plan on seeing a faculty member today. Or maybe they plan on seeing you!

5. lunch break
Man, you are starving. Hopefully, today's menu has something good. If the crowded cafeteria's not your thing, try the rooftop.

6. hooky
One of you is skipping class. You should try talking them out of it if that's your thing.

7. detention
What on earth did you do to get this? Oh well. Detention can't be that bad when you've got all these very nice, approachable model students around to talk to.

8. p.e.
Baseball, basketball, dodgeball - no matter the sport, just remember: you are the star. It's you. At least, you hope it is.

9. home ec
Sewing! Cooking! ... Try not to burn the school down!

10. lab work
Frog dissections! Explosions!

Oh boy, oh boy, being the star of this play is your dream. It isn't? Oh. You're still helping with the props and costumes, right?

If you need to look something up or just want some peace and quiet, this is the place. Whatever you do, shh, people are trying to read.

Whether they take the form of Nelson Muntz or Regina George, if you choose to meet them at the gym at four o' clock or else, be ready to face the consequences... or maybe you don't have to. Not when someone's here to help you out. (This can go either way - one of the participants can be the bully or someone helping the victim.)

You're having trouble with a class or you're trying to make up for the days you were absent. It's a good thing someone was nice enough to offer their assistance.

Assuming that you actually have one. Are you writing for the school paper? Part of the student council? The marching band? Maybe you're a member of one of those weird occult clubs or something...

Do you have a dress? A date? Who are you voting for prom king? Is being on prom committee is driving you crazy? Do you even care?

[So they got assigned as lab partners and Tommy is... Totally slacking off. Like he always does. Class is boring, school is boring, lab is boring, why do they have to be here again?]

Hey Jade, you're into this science stuff right? Wanna do my notes too?

[Totally being a jackass and doing the lab science science all by himself, but also treating Tommy like he is an idiot. Because Jade treats everyone more or less like an idiot. Because they all are.] I'm not that invested in setting you up for later failure.

Dunno if you got the memo, but I never fail.

[Leaning over boredly to stare at the science-y bits. He is, in fact, quite smart. He is just kind of ADHD. Comes with the territory.]

So what are we doing this time, dissecting? Vivisecting? Making cyborgs? Can't they think of something cooler for us than corpses to poke at?

[elderly]

I didn't pay attention. [To whether or not Tommy failed. Or... Tommy's entire existence. Look, if you take the traumatic death of Nebilim out of his life, Jade is just even more obviously a jerk.] It's dissecting pigs. [There's this... undercurrent of scorn to Jade's tone. Because in his books, this is just poking about with a knife. It isn't a dissection.] And it looks like they can't.

[speeding]

...Okay that's both gross and uninteresting. Screw that. Come on we're ditching.

[Grabbing the back of Jade's shirt to haul him along because fuck gross lab work.]

[elderly]

[Years of Peony and he sort of reflexively assumes he's supposed to be dragged around until he realizes actually he's not.] Where are we going?

[He doesn't object to skipping class. He objects to the thousand and one stupid things that other students do when they skip.]

Man I don't know, anything beats this.

[Ducking down and out of the classroom, tugging Jade along.]

Gets some beers, get in a fight... [He eyes Jade. Scrawny academic kid might not be so good to bring along on delinquent adventures. Ooon the other hand, maybe Jade just needs to live a little?]

Boost a car and go for a ride. Our life is full of potential--why waste it poking at pig guts?

[elderly]

[He is thinking about this.] Do you know what kind of car would be hardest to break into and hotwire?

[He has fought people, and he has consumed alcohol. But he has never tried to steal a car. So he picks that one.]

[speeding]

[He's actually surprised. Didn't expect it. Maybe it really is always the quest ones?]

Newer models. All that technology, theft protection, On-Star, I'm not even sure you can hotwire most of them.

[elderly]

Yes. [Always the quiet ones indeed.] It should be interesting. [His tone says that 'interesting' is the Jade Curtiss word for 'fun.' And look, you even get a smile from the kid.]

[speeding]

You're way more fun than you look. C'mon I saw I nice Jag in the parking lot this morning.

[elderly]

[Jade accompanies him to the Jaguar and inspects it with happy scientific interest. The car is of course locked.] Is it like picking locks?

[speeding]

Eh if they'd left the window open we could...

Hey how many locks do you pick a day anyway? What are you, MacGyver?

[elderly]

It was a good skill to have. [For what, exactly? Don't ask. Jade is looking for his pockets for a suitable piece of metal. If there is a car alarm, then it will be difficult to listen... Oh well. Take his chances. Jade crouches down and starts stubbornly picking away..]
