Taking this muse box's virginity like a Fon Master

[Ion actually looks pretty cute in 1880's England fashion. Nothing fancy, street kid clothes, and without the official robes and girly ornaments of the Fon Master... His gender is still pretty ambiguous. But as he's been staying with the Children of Perpetual Care he's been doing his best to blend in and be useful.]

[As much as he can at any rate. He's been trying to learn the language the proper way. And it helps that he is honestly and sincerely a people person. It may not be wise to walk around London and chat up strangers, but it's also something he truly enjoys.]

On the streets of London, Jade stops in his tracks. Florian? No. Or is it? It's not Sync--though it could be. Ion?

[Jade walks up to the child and smiles a perfectly neutral smile.] I didn't expect to see you.

[A familiar voice and presence, Ion stops in his tracks to simply stare for a moment. Surprised, stunned.]

Jade? [Of course. It's not that he's questioning who this is, he's just so surprised! An actual response fails him for a moment.]

[But he's also really happy, as the way the smile overtakes his features indicates.]

I didn't expect to see you either! But I'm glad to see you.

[The idea that he shouldn't be glad one of his friends is in this terrible place doesn't matter, because he's too sincerely happy to see Jade.]

[clinical]

[That settles it. Jade has heard of the dead washing up in the river. He wonders if that's Ion's case.] I hope you haven't been here long. Are you heading somewhere?

A little while.

[He looks up at Jade, still clearly overjoyed by the familiar face.]

I wasn't. I was just trying to learn about the people here. They're so different.

[It really interests him. Learning how people live and think and social customs, it's still something he wants to understand better.]

[clinical]

[Yes, it's Ion. And because it's Ion, Jade is quickly slipping into that protective deference he gives to the fonmaster.] Where have you been staying?

With one of the churches. [And because it's Jade Ion relaxes a little, and while the smile was never false, he grows more serious.]

Have you been here long?

[clinical]

Long enough to gain employment and a house. [His smile becomes just fractionally more amused, one of those hints of emotion that passes for expression.] A household, in fact. [And that fraction vanishes.] I'd prefer it if you weren't staying at a church. They have unsavoury reputations. Would you be willing to stay with me?

[Ion laughs softly at the thought of Jade with a household. Anise would be jealous.]

I would be honored. You've always looked after me. [It's a shame there's so little he can do to reciprocate.]

[clinical]

It has been [was] my honour to assist you, Fon Master. [And another one of the smiles.] If you're done looking around for the moment, I could show you to my house now.

Perhaps I'll be able to repay you the kindness at some point. [He smiles a little, saying it, because he knows there is little he can offer. But he nods.]

I would like that very much, thank you Jade.

[clinical]

Then this way, please. [With appropriate deference, he gestures for the Fon Master to come along.] If you'll forgive the intrusion, Fon Master, may I ask you what the last thing you remember is?

[Ion falls into step beside Jade happily. This is a little nostalgic, isn't it? Though the question causes his smile to falter a little.]

May I ask the same? The last thing I remember was reading the Score in Mt. Zaleho.

[Dying, actually. The feeling of his fonons separating. But if Jade is not from than, or from earlier, saying that much shouldn't give away his own fate. And if Jade is from after that, then he would like to know what happens.]

[Ion looks cute, although a little out of place, so Kida decides the best course of attack is of course to talk to this strange out of place kid]

Hey, you look pretty new around here. Green hair isn't something you see too often. Maybe you've been dragged here from an anime, hm?

[It's the haircut, isn't it? Well, and the green hair. He smiles when he's greeted, turning to give Kida his full attention, even if he doesn't really understand half of that.]

An anime! I guess you're from someplace that doesn't have those. What a shame, you'd be the perfect [he considers Ion. Hero? Heroine?] protagonist for that type of thing! I think I'd notice someone like you sooner though. Don't tell me, you're new here! How fortunate you should bump into me. I know this place better than almost anyone. [not really, but whatever]

It's an animated show - uh, hmm, I guess if you don't have movies or television, it's like a play except where everything is drawn instead of using real people for the action.

Are they something you're involved in, where you're from?

[laughs] No, no, I just watch them. I'm too young to be involved in anything, anyway. I'm Masaomi, by the way. I know you were wondering, how could you not want to know more about a guy like me, right?

A few months I'd say. I've stopped really thinking about this place in terms of how long I've been here. It's better just to accept the here and now, you know?

Hm. [Actually thinking about the question.] I don't really know if I could aspire to be cool, but being surrounded by good people sounds really great.
