[Welcome a new guest in London!
Fran has been here all of two days and is already being paid. The work is...not what she would really like to be doing. In fact, it's a little demeaning to her skills. One of the shadier entertainment houses - the type that caters to the weird, freakish and occult - saw her walking by after she arrived and promptly snapped her up. Fran, being herself, doesn't really care.
It means she's sitting outside of the building at a sort of desk with a sign next to it proclaiming about her strange abilities and medical insights. Basically, she's free advertising. Really she's just supposed to say something vague and tell people to go inside.
So she sits at the table and stares off into space like a good patchwork girl. Always in a daze, head propped up in her hand and swaying just a little. Busy in her own world but bored, too.]

[He's amused by Fran's statement, though.] No one is close to Shinra except one.

[Dinner's coming along nicely, speaking of drugs. He's smiling brightly. What a lively time they're all having!]
We've been friends since middle school, so I think it's natural we have a familiar relationship, given our personalities. Would you set the table, Fran?

[Fran sways around, gathering what she needs and setting it out neatly as she speaks.]
How wonderful! It is always nice to see a touching bond that blossomed in those youthful spring days of adolescent and grew stronger as the seasons changed. Such bonds that weather the passing of time are most likely to survive.

[He is also going to be sitting at his chair in a polite way now, not casual and off-hand. Because he is more polite around strangers. For a while. Sometimes.]
Though this question might be out of nowhere, Madaraki-sensei, but do you enjoy reading shojo and shonen manga?

[You know, just saying. He starts serving dinner in dishes and takes it out to the table for all of them.]
Well, he is my second oldest friend.

I actually do love manga of those types! I read them when I have some spare time or watch tv and movie adaptations of them. They provide some interesting insight into the lives of humans at such an age.

[Totally a beautiful friendship. Yay! Dinner. There's just the briefest moment where Izaya looks at his food and resigns himself to not getting a fascinating psychological profile from the meal. Oh well.]
[And he had a feeling, Fran, from the way you spoke.]
Is that so? They're pretty enjoyable, though I admit that my hobby is to observe humans in person.
